There’s a pretty cute kitty holiday coming up. Hug Your Cat Day is June 4th! While we think our feline pals certainly deserve to get hugged every day, it’s always good to show them a bit of extra attention. Here, a Derby veterinarian offers some purrfect ways to pamper Fluffy on her special day.
Toys
Don’t forget that your adorable little buddy is actually a fierce predator at heart. Pick up some new catnip mouse for Fluffy to push under the couch! Or, if you want to offer your furry friend something more modern, get her a laser pointer or a remote-controlled mouse.
Treats
Kitties can be finicky, but most of them do have a few favorite things. Canned tuna in water is a good treat for cats to have on occasion. Fluffy may also enjoy some plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry; sliced deli meat; or even some store-bought treats.
Boxes
Who saidcats are hard to please? Cardboard boxes may very well make the list of Fluffy’s favorite things! If you have kids, have them make your feline overlord a box castle to look adorable on.
Sunbeam Access
Cats don’t actually run on solar power, but we’re not sure they’ve actually realized that yet. If your kitty likes to take one or three of her 47 daily naps in a sunbeam, then indulge her by putting one of her beds in a warm, sunny spot.
Beds
Speaking of beds, kitties can just never have too many. Store-bought beds are great, but if you want to get creative, you can also make some. There are some really cute ideas for DIY beds online.
Beauty Session
Fluffy is pretty good about grooming herself, but that doesn’t mean she won’t appreciate a little help in this department. Take a few minutes to brush your furball. Most cats really enjoy being pampered this way!
Catnip!
No kitty holiday is complete without some of Fluffy’s favorite plant! Of course, not all of our feline pals react to catnip. If yours doesn’t like it, offer her some honeysuckle cat toys instead.
Love
Kitties are basically adorable, furry little bundles of love. Pay lots of attention to Fluffy. Pet her, cuddle her, and offer her lap space. Life is always better with cats!
